1、 Advantages of NOMEX insulation system dry-type transformer
 
1. Superior electrical performance:
 
First of all, NOMEX insulation material has high electrical strength under power frequency or impact, for example, its power frequency breakdown field strength is 20-40kv/mm, which is significantly higher than epoxy resin;
 
Secondly, from Table 1, the relative permittivity of several insulating materials ε Compare the value of NOMEX paper ε The value is lower and closer to air. Therefore, when NOMEX paper is used for insulation of dry-type transformer, the electric field distribution between the insulator and the surrounding air medium will be more uniform, which can reduce its insulation size, avoid excessive concentration of electric field, and correspondingly make the whole insulation structure system more reasonable, reduce local discharge, and improve operation reliability; In addition, the starting voltage of surface discharge and partial discharge of NOMEX paper are both high. When used in dry-type transformer, the distance between winding and yoke can be reduced, thus reducing the height of iron core column and the weight of iron core.

2. Outstanding heat resistance:
 
This is one of the inherent and most prominent advantages of NOMEX paper. It belongs to Class C insulation material and can maintain long-term stable operation at 220 ℃. It is internationally recognized as a 220 ℃ insulation system (Class H dry-type transformer without NOMEX paper can only reach 180 ℃ insulation system); In addition, even if the temperature reaches 250 ℃, it will not melt, flow and support combustion, and its electrical performance can still reach 95% of the rated value; Even when the temperature reaches 350 ℃, it can still withstand short-term operation.
 
In addition, NOMEX paperboard can also withstand large temperature gradients and has strong overload capacity. In addition to being suitable for manufacturing Class H dry-type transformers, it is also suitable for SF6 gas-insulated transformers with poor heat dissipation conditions and electric locomotive traction transformers with strong overload capacity. 3. Firm mechanical properties
 
First of all, NOMEX paper has high tensile strength and tear strength, as well as high friction and cutting resistance, so it can not only prevent problems in the manufacturing process, but also ensure sufficient mechanical strength in the long-term operation process; In addition, it also has good compressive strength, small deformation under pressure and good flexibility, thus ensuring the stability and firmness of the whole coil structure under the action of short circuit and other mechanical stresses.
 
4. Excellent moisture resistance
 
NOMEX paper does not absorb water and has good moisture resistance. It can maintain 90% of the completely dry medium strength even at a relative temperature of 95%. The dry-type transformer manufactured with it can still work safely in wet environment.
 
5. Good flame retardance
 
NOMEX paper has the highest oxygen limiting index. At 220 ℃, its LOI is more than 20.8%. Therefore, its flame retardance is better than that of epoxy resin and PET film. So far, it has been certified by many international authorities for its flame resistance.
 
6. Outstanding safety and environmental protection performance
 
From the chemical molecular structure of NOMEX paper, it has good chemical stability because there is no weak C-H bond. It has excellent compatibility with various oils, resins, impregnating paints and fluorocarbon compounds; It is resistant to ionizing radiation; It can withstand the corrosion of acid and alkali, and is not affected by most chemical solvents; It will not be attacked by fungi or molds. Years of practice has shown that NOMEX products will not produce toxic reactions to humans and animals. Even at the temperature of 750 ℃, it will not release toxic or corrosive gases, so when the dry-type transformer is burned due to the fire of buildings, the concentration of smoke generated by it is also very low, and it will not produce harmful gases.
 
7. From the perspective of environmental performance
 
Because the dry-type transformer made of NOMEX paper as insulating material is not easy to burn, and the energy released during combustion is much smaller than that of epoxy resin dry-type transformer, it is easy to meet the internationally recognized combustion test requirements. After the dry-type transformer is scrapped at the end of its service life, the treatment and recovery of its insulating material degradation material will also better meet the requirements of environmental protection than epoxy resin. Therefore, it can be considered that the environmental performance of NOMEX paper is much better than that of epoxy resin, and it is more suitable for use in countries and regions with high environmental requirements.

2、 Structural characteristics of Hengfengyou NOMEX dry-type transformer
 
1. The iron core is made of cold-rolled silicon steel sheet with high magnetic conductivity grain orientation (CRGO), fully inclined and holeless binding, and has a built-in pull plate structure, which is beautiful and clean in appearance, low no-load loss and low noise.
 
2. The high voltage coil is of continuous structure, with good heat dissipation, which makes the overload capacity of the transformer stronger. The low voltage coil is of foil type, which enhances the stability of the coil and improves the short-circuit resistance; The coil adopts a unique vacuum pressure impregnation H-class flame retardant paint, and is cured at high temperature. The surface can be dustproof, moisture-proof and antifouling.

3、 Comparison between Hengfengyou NOMEX paper insulated dry-type transformer and Hengfengyou electric epoxy resin cast transformer:
 
1. The most outstanding advantage of Class H OVDT dry-type transformer is its strong overload capacity. This is due to its thin insulation layer, good ventilation and heat dissipation, and small difference between the maximum temperature rise and the average temperature rise. For products made of NOMEX paper, it also uses the insulation temperature between Class C materials (220 ℃) and Class H products (180 ℃).
 
2. Class H OVDT dry-type transformer has good thermal shock resistance and can effectively prevent cracking.
 
3. The coil repair of OVDT products is relatively easy.
 
4. From the energy released during combustion, the epoxy casting type is much larger.
 
5. From the perspective of environmental protection performance, epoxy casting is not as good as Class H OVDT, especially in the degradation treatment and recovery.
 
6. The moisture-proof property of Class H products with VPI process can reach the high quality level under the condition of complete manufacturing process.
 
7. Under the condition that the quality of materials and technology is guaranteed, the partial discharge level of Class H OVDT dry-type transformer is roughly equal to that of epoxy casting type.
 
8. In principle, the size and quality (weight) of Class H products can be smaller than that of Class F.
 
9. From the perspective of the development requirements of dry-type transformer technology, in the new draft of IEC60076-11 standard, it is proposed that three tests must be carried out in the future: fire resistance (F), environmental adaptability (E) and thermal shock resistance (C). From the perspective of meeting these three tests, Class H OVDT dry-type transformer is more advantageous than epoxy casting type.
