At 14:00 local time on July 23, 2021, the volute of unit 1 of Israel KH pumped storage power station project was smoothly lifted from the installation room and slowly sent to the designated position of unit 1 pit, which lasted 25 minutes. The successful hoisting of the spiral case of unit 1 has achieved the key node goal of the project from civil construction to electromechanical installation, marking the formal opening of the electromechanical equipment installation of the project.
The total installed capacity of KH pumped storage power station in Israel is 340mw. After completion, it will become the largest pumped storage power station in Israel. The project is located in Gilboa mountains in Northeast Israel of overseas Asia and invested and constructed by Taihe company. PowerChina won the bid as the general contractor to be responsible for the design, supply and construction of the project, which will be implemented by the company. The total installed capacity is 340mw (2 × 170MW), equipped with two single-stage reversible units with a unit capacity of 170MW, with a maximum head of 441m and a rated head of 410m; It is composed of upper reservoir, water conveyance system, underground powerhouse system, tailrace system, lower reservoir, ground switching station, transmission and distribution system and access road. The total construction period is 53 months.
The project is the first EPC hydropower project undertaken by PowerChina in the high-end market of developed countries and the first pumped storage power station project undertaken by Chinese companies overseas. The project adopts European and American standards and local requirements, with high design standards and complex construction approval procedures, which puts forward higher requirements for PowerChina's ability to adapt to overseas high-end market rules and integrate local resources.
Since the commencement of the project, PowerChina and the consortium partner General Electric have given full play to their respective advantages, sincerely cooperated and overcome one difficulty after another. Especially in the 2020 novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic situation, the project department seized epidemic prevention, and made the production one by one, which ensured the continuous construction of the project.
